Moss

I am reluctant to categorise flowers as masculine, in order to make up a balance between "yin" and "yang" in Chinese philosophy, I rather identify this moss as one of the male principle of the Nature.

The long stretch of moss has never enchanted many people. Nobody really stops by and shows "Oh!! What a moss" kind of excitement.

I love this long stretch of green carpet just because it enhances the natural beauty of the jungle. It is simple and again simple, in the colour of green which is different from the charming and sexy look of a flower.

A close-up of a flower reveals its beauty in detail. I have nothing to tell on the close-up of this moss . Put a man like me under a magnifying glass, there is nothing much can be said by my wife as well.

Interesting post!

If not they are wet and yukee it will make a great mattress.

A few years ago my grandmothers place had a perfectly dry moss grown two inches thick. It was like a cushion :)

Maybe we can also consider the leaves and the stem as the male parts to have a balance. :)

You're right, the moss wouldn't be considered pretty or beautiful. But it serves its purpose very well. It does have a very quiet respectful attractiveness to it though.

i actually find the moss very interesting and it has its own unique beauty too. i always get excited to see moss, especially those which carelessly hang on a tree, but yeah, unlike a flower, they have more subdued beauty, just like men?

Nice photos and post Rain :) To be honest, I love moss. Wherever I go, especially to moist and wet places, moss is the first thing I notice.I thought it was because of the rich deep green colour, but now I know why. As per you put it, it's masculine :P You may be right. Not many would go and say, 'What a beautifull Moss' Hope this post changes their mindset next time when they see one and take notice of it's sexiness and beauty.

From a photography perspective both images are beautiful and I like the way you have composed the first one...Thomas

I was surprised by your post and had to smile. I always thought I was strange because I love moss. It is interesting to me and I always stop to look at it. I've even tried to move some dirt where it was growing so I could add it to my garden, without much luck I'm afraid. Those are beautiful orchids, as well.

Moss are survivors. Somehow they come and go without trails

I never consider them masculine

Icy BC+> I always want to be an interesting man, though may not be wonderful.

Kirigalpoththa+> It must be then very enjoyable to jump high and low on the carpet.

Pacey+> Ummm, is a good idea to consider stems as the male parts...

Ratty+> We sometimes need the beast to show the beauty of others.

betchai+> You've read my mind. I keep looking for the moss that carelessly hang on a tree, but it is a failure until now.

Megaa_V+> The are sexy especially when they are soaked.

Thomas+> You have a great site that has me dreaming for.

Tootie+> Are you smiling or laughing? I over heard that.
I used to grow moss on my pot of bonzai. It looks great.

roentarre+> Yes. You get your point.

I agree that nobody gets excited or happy seeing moss. Unlike pretty flowers...we oohed and aahed over them.

I dislike the moss that grows in the drains in my home.

I may be a bit weird but I happen to think moss not only serves a purpose but can be pretty as well, especially in the photos you've displayed.
