Like a Monkey

I was doing nothing at the moment. No no, some clarification, I was doing nothing except pictures taking at the moment. I simply watched at those monkeys playing around atop the trees.

They are called crab-eating Macaque or long-tailed Macaques because the tail of these macaques are usually about the same length as their body, and they are called kera in the local language. These monkeys are very playful and aggressive. According to statistic, there were 5374 cases of complaints on the their invasion on human in West Malaysia in 2006. But to my experience, not to stare at them and avoid disturbing them can normally prevent any unpleasant incident from happening.

Watching at them were similar to watching at naughty little kids fooling around.

When you are said to be a monkey, you are categorised as an active species that will not settle down but keep making a lot of noises.

If you are one of them, I am now watching at you.

I attended a methodist girls school as a child and people used to make fun by calling it..monkey girls' school! Hahha.

Yes, I remembered the local guide telling us not to stare at those monkeys...at first I was abit alarmed hearing that. Those aggressive ones can be scary.

Rainfield, nice shots but I can't say I like the creatures. As you may remember we have mentioned the short tailed version before.

To some extent I blame humans who feed the animals in such countries as your own, India and Thailand.

Of course they are often important from a religious point of view as well.

My nephew acts like a monkey sometimes. He needs to be watched too. :)

There are people in the city near me that act like these monkeys. They are nothing but trouble sometimes too. I think I like the name kera better than macaque for the monkeys.

Monkeys are fun to watch playing the fool. But they can get nasty, while still playing.
Nice shots of these playful fellows.

Mei Teng::: Everyone of us should have gone through the monkey-way of childhood. Ha ha ha...

Mike::: That's why statistic on invasion of monkey on human is high in Malaysia.

Ratty::: Grown up "monkeys" do exist in anywhere, is is better to label them " I am a monkey".

Pacey::: They are monkeys, so they are really like monkeys. Haha..

Glennis::: We have in a Chinese myth a hero monkey who owns the power to change into 72 characters. He is playful but fights with the monster bravely. And he is always the winner.

You know...It's nice to know there's someone else loves 'people watching'. At times I get too carried away and wanted to get closer with them. Fortunately no bad incident except there was one time I was chased by an Alpha male up at the Fraser's Hill when I challenged him by staring at him too long..lol Most oftem, I forget to take photos of them when I'm watching them. It's always very pleasant to see them in photos. Thanks for sharing.

Icy BC::: Without all my friends, I do not think my pictures are fantastic.

Megaa_V::: Staring at monkeys are best to be avoided, same to man. Don't you think man is dangerous?

Poetic Shutterbug::: I am doubt whether I am as playful as them, sometimes...

betchai::: Yes, 1,2,3. I see you jumping high and low.
