Puff-throated Babbler

I reckon Puff-throated Babblers as my friendliest birds at Cerok Tokun so far. Since they are often seen hopping in the undergrowth along my hiking trail, we are always so close in proximity to each other.

I have built a terrific friendship with one of them in last year. It intended to lead me to its home for a cup of coffee. Unfortunately the plan was spoiled by a passer-by.

This Babbler was quite noisy this morning. And because of the sound, I was able to trace its whereabouts. It blended into the environment so well that nobody could find except me. It then replaced sound with actions once I was seen holding a camera; it knew that I could not record video with my DSLR.

It continued puffing its throat out in order to tell me its name is right, or because of the name, it had to keep puffing. It did so much without knowing its image may be at risk. A Babbler is supposed to be a beautiful bird.

We may sometimes fall into a similar trap. But if this can make other happier, what is wrong being a joker sometimes?

The Puff-throated Babbler sure is an amusing bird with a funny name. So nice of it to make noise so you can find it and share it with the world.

This little bird definitely blends in with its environment...a good thing, I guess, for its protection. It's a cute tiny thing and your pictures are wonderful.

I'm beginning to love birds now since I started following your blog. I just hope that I will get the chance to take photos of them. They are very elusive to me or I maybe not too sneaky.

I have never heard of this type of bird before. It is beautiful and blends in well with it's background. Because I believe this blog to be so entertaining, it is Nature Center Magazine's Featured Site of the Week.

I have seen Puff-throated Babbler in Malaysia. We have very closely related species here named Brown-capped Babbler, which is endemic to SL.

It is now confirmed: You are a bird watcher. Deal with it! :)

I still remember that lil birdie who hopped before you and led you to its home but forgot that it was a babbler.

This one seems to have a bunch of antics, good for a stand-up comedian. =D Great story Rain! Hope to hear more about your birding adventures. ^__^

The last picture tells that the bird is so shy to be seen by you. It just hide its head away from you.

The puff-throated babbler really is a very beautiful bird. I think it has to behave in a way that shows that its name fits. If it did not then we would maybe forget its name.
