Tiring Hike

I had my most tiring hike last Sunday morning. Yes, this is me, and I feel so sorry for the way I start the story and the manner I greet you all. Anyhow, lacking of photo from this hike must not be my excuse; you can now imagine why I did not have spare hands to take enough photo for most of the time.

The jungle trail was then so muddy and slippery. I skidded along, I pulled the vines, I got help from little plants, and I held on to the rocks. My backpack rubbed against the mud, my camera swung towards the mud, and my trouser kissed the mud. I was ugly muddy.

I am showing the picture on a scorpion, hopefully it can explain how muddy and slippery the jungle trail was.

The picture may tell this part of story, but it was absence when I heard a wild boar murmuring nearby me. I could only judge and keep my safe distance for having no experience to deal with this animal. It was certainly a relief after some "hide-and-no seek" games I managed to leave the boar behind. I told myself not to run, I have only myself to be outrun. The wild boar that armed with sharp tusks might be provoked and attacked the slower me. Sitting down in front of my computer I can now search and talk anything without any worry, and for the wild boar, breeding occurs throughout the year in the tropics, but births peak around rainy seasons. I wonder what did the animal talk at that time.

I spotted this funny thing later. It might be the initial build of a termite's nest. But my point is, it may help to show you the wetness which had my day full of events.

Full of events? It is my embarrassment to tell I had lost my way in the jungle during the crawling, skidding and "hide-and-no seek" moments. Luckily I managed to find my way when I started to walk upright again.

shhh.... I did the laundry myself silently. I washed the mud on my pair of shoes at Cerok Tokun. Shhh....

That is pretty wet and dirty :)

It sounds as if you had quite an experience! I don't think I would want to meet a wild boar while on a hike. I hope you have recovered from your wild, wet hike.

LOL what a muddy adventure! =D

Anyway that sounds scary.. sensing the presence of a wild boar. Good thing you managed to find your trail again. And yep, the pics clearly express the condition of the jungle. =D

You are funny rain and love the scorpion pic, must be because I'm a scorpio. Be careful next time. And hope no more wild boars.

This sounds like it was a rough hike. The rough hikes aren't always fun, but sometimes they are. There are a few places I go that get very muddy. I try to avoid them, but sometimes I have to go because I miss them so much. I hope you still had a good time even with all the mud.

It sounds as if Indiana Jones would have had a hard time to keep up with you. What an adventure!

fufu: I know who to ring when I want to go hiking next time as well.

Kirigalpothha: It was real fun out there.

George: Ihave to recover immediately, you know, I need to work the next day. lol.

Harumi: Do not know whether there are any wild boars in your neighbourhood. Must be real interesting to see python fighting with a boar.

Icy BC: If you are with me on the hike, I'll be busy picking up your heart from the ground.

Pacey: The scorpion looks very peaceful, that may not be the truth.

Salitype: Hmmmm, it is fun by now, not at that time.

Ratty: I know you should have some similar experience like mine. Muddy, and sometimes lychees.

Mother Goose: Wow!! Indiana Jones is back. Where is my whip?

This kind of muddy adventures is not for me anymore. So that's why I prefer to see it from your journey here. Meanwhile, I'll enjoy it from my desktop screen.

Looks like a great adventure, despite you sliding and falling. That sounds like very much part of the fun, in that experience and being among new forms of life.

Looks like the monsoon is having its effect there.

I too had a close encounter with wild boars in Taman Negara in the Swamp loop. It ran away after spotting me and I managed a fleeting glimpse.

Wow your mud soaked shoes are a testament to the hard work you put to your feet.

Have you heard of a place called Broga in Semenyih? Was told it's a great hiking place but not recommended to go alone.

Walking on muddy path is fascinating. One will face all sort problem by going slow, inching our way like snails.... Just go on walking as if nothing happens, as if one is on a concrete path in a Botanical Garden, and it will be a real surprise, that one doesn't even slip or fall.... Huh.., mind over matter!.. haha... Cheers, ~bangchik

Autumn Belle @ KDP: I enjoy the most from my weekly hiking, if not, life is just an ordinary day in the factory.

Ana: It would be much fun if one day I can see a hiker in your drawing. lol.

Gallicissa: Taman Negara? You had been in Malaysia before!! Welcome!
Do you prefer in the Boar's way?

Tabib: Rainfield got lost in the rainforest, "momentarily" only.

Cher: Mud, to most of us, belongs to our childhood. We are too "mature" to be muddy. haha...

maricar: What will be will be..

Mei Teng: I have not heard about that place. It must be very fun to be there.

Bangchik and Kakdah: In those days when my family stayed in a kampong, rain and mud always came in pair. I was a kampong boy.

Yea, wild hogs can be unsettling so I can't blame you for forgetting you were wearing one of the best repellents known to man. Next time take off the wet sneakers and wave it at them.

Bengbeng said...

a scary story to encounter a wild boar. good thing you found yr bearings after a while

Tes said...

Wow, reminds me of Michael Douglas in Romancing the Stone -muddy! Good thinking on the wild boar, it's a good thing you did not bolt, that would've alerted his attention -then it would be "hide-and-SEEK! Yikes! I can tell you had a good time, good shot of the scorpion!

Ayie said...

you're such a mess rainfield!

Ayie said...

good thing nothin bad really happened and the boar didn't get you at all.

Joanne Olivieri said...

slip, sliding away. What an experience and not very pleasant. You are the true daredevil hiker :)

WiseAcre: What if it thought these are for him, and waiting for another pair to come.

Bengbeng: That are paper markings by the Hashers on the trek, but they place them on every path.

Tes: The scorpion was my unintended harvest. lol.

Ayie: Maybe after a few trips, I can be a friend of them. Hopefully.

Poetic Shutterbug: I thought I was at that moment, but it is not by now. It is not that difficult anyway. Anyhow enjoyment matters.
