Birding in a Busy City

There exists cultural differences between the urban and rural area, and I am not talking about those related to us.

If I have missed my feathered-friends at Fraser's Hill, their cousins returned ironically to me in Mines City.  City folks must have lost their minds living in a fast lane, no holiday was celebrated.

What's up? I saw white Egrets, Storks, Common Kingfishers, Pond Herons and more working through Christmas Eve. This was certainly good to me.

And they were never as relaxed as shown in pictures that always deceive us, but busy concentrating, waiting, watching, diving, and catching, and those daily routines repeated again and again, as to entertain us, the visitors.

One of the Pond Herons was found perching on a branch. It moved further up clumsily, trying to keep hidden behind some leaves upon seeing me.

It never flew away, and that seemed odd.

It might need a doctor. Can the charge be double, triple or more during holidays?

City folks lose their minds living in the fast lane.

Away from the city there sure are more opportunities to see some of these birds. Some of your birds are familiar to me, and others seem exotic.

It is a shame that the city folk can not slow down and enjoy nature. I love your birds, the herons are gorgeous and is that a kingfisher? Great captures!

The first photo is rather symbolic reminds me of China old precious paintings. Kingfishers like to play at my parents ponds but they put their life at risk since our furry feline predator pet likes to prey on them.

They are beautiful birds, and I live in a busy city seeing very few types of birds.

Perhaps the birds fly into the city for vacation for a different view. I would think it would be harder to get a decent meal there.

I started giving blood when I was in canada, when I came home and told my Aunty, she said, " You want to die???? and then added when my Grandma had a operation, we had to buy blood."

If the Chinese continue to have such ideas, there will always be a lack of blood.

What a surprise to find more birds in the busy city than at Fraser's Hill. Nice shots, I like the Kingfisher's colors.

You got some great pictures of those city birds. Your photo of the first bird is wonderful. You perfectly captured him at work. I also like the photo of the two birds on the tree branches.

I think you have a point. I was stunned when visiting my brother in California once. He told me we were on a 25 lane freeway! I was even more shocked when he said it was relaxing to him!! Well, that must be a sign. Anyway- these guys are busy and I enjoyed the captures. Wishing you a fantastic weekend and a peaceful New Year. Hopefully I'll get a post up soon..
thanks-
