I Saw A Rainbow

Ohhh...have suffered from food poisoning, and did not attend to my virtual office, or simply did not get near to my PC for last two days.

Just let's cheer up with the rainbow which was captured at my balcony last Monday evening. Though it looked faded and light, it was still a rainbow before disappeared totally.

At the same time on the opposite direction, that was a kite flying high. It kept a few of us asking whether it was a kite or an aeroplane before that.

A simple rainbow or an ordinary little kite has never failed to attract our attention if we still open up our eyes.

There is always an exception, I slept day and night for last two days.

Vertically up

I had a dream last night.
Alice told me to change my point of view and to look at thing in a different angle.
So, I decided to look at things differently. I saw my world vertically up.

Before I start, let me clarify myself.
You know it is Sunday today.
I should be very free to sit in front of my notebook, spending the whole day reading and writing, of course, drinking Chinese tea as well.
But, since I needed to lie down, bent my neck, squeezed and sticked my body to the walls, it was hard for me to adjust myself towards my notebook.
That's why, only by now, I am writing.

When I was on my weekly hiking trail, there was not much surprise.

The ascending trail always guides me to look somehow vertically up.

I can easily identify which trees are busy at mingling with others.

The relationship between them looks very complicated and messy.

I saw a tree which we call "pokok Asam" (pokok is in local language, it means tree) .

Even though with broken arms and shedding skins, it continues to grow taller and tougher.

It must be able to provide me with a big enough shed at the time I asked for it.

Yes, this is what friends are for.

When I was back home, my vertically up type of world continued.
My papaya tree was not as usual as it used to be.
It made me lying down on the floor in order to appreciate it fully.

Its leaves grow so thick. I was almost not able to see the sky.

I have almost forgotten the reason why my kitchen is not hot during daylight. Everything seems to come natarul to me.

Only thing I am sure is that a few papayas have made themselves ready for me.

The view from the bottom, how can I phrase it......can I say sexy?
Then came the difficult time.
I had to squeezed myself underneath my pot of bonsai.
And I managed to, finally.

Bonsai is a small plant, a small creature.
When I went for macro view, it seemed to be so gigantic.

Remembered what I had said before? Illusion, life is full of illusion.
We could be fooled by our eyes, although they supposed to be our closest comrade.

And the story continued.

I sticked myself almost flat onto the walls in order to understand their world.

To my relief, they were breathing in the blue blue sky.
They were heard talking to my lamp,

"Boy, thumbs up. We are still able to have a piece of clean land with blue sky.

Man must continue to save the Earth."

This come to the end of my one day long vertically up journey and experience.

Yet, my mind has not back to sea level.

When I shall return to work, can I tell my MD to have mind-set change? Think out of box. Look at thing differently. Start to see vertically up. Or, more technically, to practice bottom-up rather than top-down.

Will he? Alice should know.

Mengkuang Dam in the morning

Life is full of surprise; you will continuously receive one surprise after another.
When I climbed up onto the side of Mengkuang dam, morning sunlight scattered behind the clouds and imaged itself on the mirror-flat dam surface.
I could not resist the early gift, then I kept it in my hand phone camera. And it was part of me.

I could not let my jogging shoes felt like they had been left alone, so I started my an-hour jogging with the accompany of happiness and satisfaction.

At the moment of feeling exhausted, there came the second gift.

I saw a paint brush was drawing a line of signal on the sky, quietly.
Nobody was disturbed.
Someone would have his own reading and understanding.

Alice kept it in her eyes.

I kept it, again, in my hand phone camera.

The children who were watching kept it within their breath.

Hiker is not a runner, for today Penang Bridge Run

I did not participated in this morning Penang Bridge International Marathon.
I took part in 10km Fun Run category during last year.
The whole bridge was totally closed for traffic by then.
It was as packed as canned Sardine since more than 10 thousands people took part.
Instead, I go for my husband-and-wife weekly routine, Cerok Tokun Hike.
The 2 available car parks are full as usual. That is, many hikers are not runners.
I took the usual mountain trek. It was cool and more heartbeating.

Beautiful natural cool art
Lonely hiker
Less people use mountain trail. Most of them prefer to use tar road.
Tar road is not so taxing for elder citizens, ladies and little children.
But actually we are not so lonely. Naughty monkeys tend to jump
from one branch to another, creating some noises in this
quite and calm environment.
Sometimes I wonder, do the monkeys ever fail to jump over?
Monkey of another species
There are exercise facilities prepared on the stop-for-a-rest
site. Umbrellas are also available for any unexpected rain fall.
sometimes people sleep for a while before continue for further journey
1, 2 ,3 ,4 ,5....I'll lift for 20 times for a balance exercise
Am I right? Need to get both hands and legs to work for a
balance work out
Get out from the end of mountain trail, awaiting for me is
the full moon behinds the trees.
Not windy as for today, but the warm sunlight is so
refreshing.
Stop for a chat
Mountain biking is now getting more popular. And
competition is designed in such a way that tar road is used
for upward trail and down hill trail is on the unpaved environment.

Experience on Mount Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia

The whole journey requires 2 days: pick up from Kota Kinabalu town in the morning if you stay there. Start climbing up at around 10:00am. Reach Laban Rata Resthouse in the evening.
Take an early sleep at around 7:00pm. Start for the peak at 2:30am. Reach peak at around 6:30am. Return and arrive at resthouse by 9:30am. Pack up and reach starting point by 2:30pm.
(Route map thoughout the whole climbing trail from Timpohon Gate to Low's Peak:
http://www.mount-kinabalu-borneo.com/Route-Map.pdf)
Meal is available at the resthouse.

Need to fully charge your mobile phone before leaving Kota Kinabalu town since no electrical point is available in the resthouse.

Must bring:
(As need to back-pack throughout the whole climbing, best is to get minimum clothing)
1. Winter clothing, glove and hat
2. torch light
3. Panadol (best to bring along)
4. Chocolate bar (to refill energy)
5. Disposable rain coat (for poor weather)

The Climbing
Climbing up Mount Kinabalu is not a very tough job because mountain treks are well built.

The climb starts at the Timpohon Gate (1866m).

By the time I reached Laban Rata Resthouse, 3222m above sea level, still in normal clothing, I felt nothing different. But once knowing the temperature was 10 deg C, Wah!!! I was feeling cooooldddddd, chilling.

The most enjoyable part is that you can see the changing of types of tree and scenery at different sea level.

There are water supplies along the way before Laban Rata Resthouse.

Do not give up to reach Low's Peak for the sunrise.

You will not regret to come to Mount Kinabalu.

But as number of visitor is limited to around 140 per day, it is better to book ahead, suggested to be 6 months earlier.
