They are monkeys. To be precisely complicated, they become long-tailed macaques, crab-eating macaques, 长尾猕猴, 食蟹猕猴,etc.
They are as invasive as humans, or vice versa, but they can always disguise themselves as The Thinker at the same time,
or show their disdain for the uninterested DSLR.
They are very common in Malaysia, I meet them every time I visit Cerok Tokun, and this time at Batu Caves.
"Batu Caves is one of the most popular Hindu shrines outside India, dedicated to Lord Murugan. It is the focal point of Hindu festival of Thaipusam in Malaysia." (Wikipedia).
We made a detour to visit this place during the last trip to Bukit Tinggi.
as invasive as humans or vice versa. you are wise man!
ReplyDeleteEast to understand your enjoyment in photography. Each shot is so special to you--and to your followers.
ReplyDeleteAs for monkeys:
Humans see--humans do....
Beautiful spread and commentary.
Lots of great stuff in this post. I always like to see monkeys. And you visited a great place.
ReplyDeleteThe monkeys, I have always seen as wise animals, mischievous and resourceful, but then I've also only seen them in zoos.
ReplyDeleteExciting and interesting places you write about. I read on Wikipedia about Bukit Tingg. Exciting hitorisk place / brita

Monkeys scare me -- but yours are quite beautiful. :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures; I would love to go somewhere where I could see monkeys in the wild.
ReplyDeleteAnd you are the master at giving us a great deal to think about in only a few words! (And for that I sincerely thank you.)
Love the expression on the macaque's face in the second shot. The shrine looks very beautiful.

ReplyDeletei really love to think they are thinkers :) hehe, that cave looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteThe last time I visited this place was when I was a student many years back.
ReplyDeleteWould love to visit this again during low season
de ja vu, dreamt that i've been here already but i went through all the comments i couldn't find my name. hmmmn... blame it on that Batu Cave feature i watched at TLC. lol
ReplyDeleteMonkeys can be quite naughty at times, much like humans.
ReplyDeleteThe statue at Batu Caves is very impressive, but so are the macaques you've pictured. I just don't understand how they could be disinterested in you (or your camera).
ReplyDeleteSanktuarium jest imponujące. Małpki te są inteligentne, ale i niegrzeczne.Przekonałam się na własne skórze. Pozdrawiam.
ReplyDeleteThe sanctuary is impressive. Monkeys are intelligent, but often rude. I have found in my own skin. Yours.
Fascinating post and beautiful photography of your country ~ thanks, carol, xo
ReplyDeletethat is a very interesting place. I'm definitely putting it in my bucket list of places to see before I die.
ReplyDeleteInteresting place with many steps to climb, but so much easier than without stairs. Charming monkeys, looking smart!
ReplyDeleteWhat an impressive place!
ReplyDeleteAnd the monkeys look like really interesting characters!
Incredibly beautiful but I wouldn't make it up ten stairs, I am sad to say...those steps eliminate the riff raff and those out of shape such as me.
