A skipper butterfly zooms past me, and makes a long solid flapping sound.
It circles, and finally perches on my leg, as if I am a flower plant.
It flies to my camera bag that have been placed on the ground, and is now its new target, a big black flower.
I try to wave it away, but it returns immediately, and swings its abdomen up and down like a pendulum, that never tells time, but I time: one, two, three, four and far more. That attracts my curiosity.
What on earth is it doing on my bag?
Then I discover some "liquids" are released onto my bag. They seep through the fabrics, and disappear.
Is the butterfly laying eggs on my bag?
A butterfly can lay as many as two hundreds eggs at one time. Am I going to see this number of caterpillars on my bag after a week?
No caterpillars please!! They are nice in pictures, but not as pets.
But when two hundreds of butterflies bloom like flowers, how magnificent it will be!

such interesting discovery!
ReplyDeleteGosh! Does that mean two hundred birth announcements and gifts?
ReplyDeleteYour purse must smell pretty good, too. Great shots, girl! Almost as if you paid Momma to pose.
PEACE!
awww! i laughed at steve e's comment. :)
ReplyDeleteOh I like that..She scented you, and gave you a present. Lucky guy you are :-)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos, Rainfield!
I just notice Steve E's comment, and burst out a laugh..You, girly mama :-) :-) you!
ReplyDeleteIndeed, she was convinced your bag was an exotic flower she'd only heard about from NG. Seriously, the egg business.. they must be like the Monarch in that they lay them all in different places. I know I took a few pictures of the eggs but don't think I ever posted? Yes, those caterpillars- they chewed all the leaves on what would give them future sustenance! I too can imagine a million of them just like flowers blooming~
ReplyDeleteYou most always carry your camera with you to take such pictures. I would just see a nice butterfly, I would never think of the eggs it could be leaving on my bag.
ReplyDeleteGreetings,
Filip
Whoa, your photos are so clear and detailed. I can see her tail depositing the "stuff"! Hopefully your bag has what it take to hatch those eggs..
ReplyDeleteGreat story.
ReplyDeleteI agree.
Caterpillars, no.
Butterflies, yes.
It definitely sounds (an looks) as if your family is going to get much larger very soon. Will you share individual pictures of all 200 babies?
ReplyDeleteIt sure is a beautiful butterfly but i wouldn't want to have little caterpillars on my bag!
ReplyDeleteI was so happy to see you, it gives me a really good reason to come and check out all your beautiful pictures!
Big hugs from Indiana
Leontien
Rainfield, how magnificent it will be indeed! haha, someone told me also before that this liquid works so great in attracting butterflies :)
ReplyDeleteRainfield, you made a new friend. I can now picture hundreds of butterflies flying around your camera bag. What a lovely sight! Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures and what an interesting story. 200 caterpillars as pet, what a perspective (probably not very good for the plants in your garden ;)
ReplyDeletePlease try to link again -- I changed some settings. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful photos!! Amazing!!
ReplyDeleteRainfiled, you always make me smile. She indeed liked you and it seems you are going to be celebrating over 200 births soon :) Great detailed photos on this post.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet butterfly...and I think being papa to those is better than having other offspring...say, maggots.
ReplyDeleteHope you're well, rainfield...I miss India as I bundle under down comforters and blankets trying to stay warm at night. But it's good to see old friends and to be three miles from the Pacific.
great story and fantastic photos!
ReplyDeleteVery good and interesting
ReplyDeleteWhat perfume did you wear to attract it?
ReplyDeletecan see the liquid oozing out. Great close-up.
Lol... fantastic story & photos!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful color! Love the great detail!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, so clear....are you sure you don't want 200 butterflies....
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful sight it would be to see the butterflies...but not the caterpillars that they have to be first! Great shots!
ReplyDeleteLovely captures!
ReplyDeleteAs always, your photos are gorgeous and your story is hilarious. Thanks for the morning laughter.
ReplyDeleteI love skippers with their big eyes that make them look so gentle and friendly.
ReplyDeleteCute little thing! Very nice shot! Loved Steve E's comment. ;)
ReplyDeleteYes, the flutterbys would be great pets to see everyday, but the caterpillars, not so much! LoL! =)
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute little fellow...and great captures!
ReplyDeleteZdecydowanie wolę motyle w ogrodzie, niż gąsienice w domu. Zabawny jest Twój tekst. Pozdrawiam.
ReplyDeleteI prefer butterflies in the garden than the tracks at home. Funny is your text. Yours.
Fantastic!
ReplyDeleteWhat amazing shots. Am looking forward to the caterpillar pictures even if you're not looking forward to having them :O)
ReplyDeletebeautiful :)
ReplyDeleteHello! Very interesting story...
ReplyDeleteAwww!! How exciting!
ReplyDeleteLet's drink to your fortitude and wonderful close-up and baby caterpillars.
I CAN'T wait some pictures of tiny little caterpillars.
A butterfly variety which is not like anything I've seen. Fine photographed / brita
ReplyDeleteI love your pictures! look at that big eye!
ReplyDeletehaha! time to waterproof your bag! watch out for the caterpillars, they might visit you while you are sound asleep. lol!
ReplyDeletei'd prefer to watch (and shoot) her while she pollinates on colourful flowers. But this is something totally different for a change. Nice b/ground isolation
ReplyDeleteWhat a great capture! But oh no ...not excited about those babies!
ReplyDelete200 eggs??? No wonder I see a lot fo caterpillars at time!
ReplyDeleteExcellent pics... and caterpillars do make cute pets... outdoors, that is...
ReplyDeleteHmm, your getting quite a following now! Lets just hope you don't get all conceited cause that would spoil everything (heh heh)
ReplyDeleteI was wondering what program you use to fool around with your pictures? I had been using picasa before my desk top gave me a black screen. I'm looking for another - simple enough..so I can do more Superman posts!! Any suggestions? Thanks
When it is not funnier than you, you have lost hope to continue to write about it!
ReplyDeleteWhen it is not funnier than you, you have lost hope to continue to write about it!
ReplyDeletevery interesting !!! I have never experienced butterfly come close to me !
ReplyDeleteAligaga
Looks like your camera bag had a nice little adventure!! Loved the post, beautiful pics and narration.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice week ahead:)
The butterfly wanted you to take 200 souvenirs home then you won't have to travel far to see caterpillars and butterflies!
ReplyDeleteMaybe one day those hundreds of butterflies will bloom from your bag and everyone around will think you are magic.
ReplyDeleteThat is really interesting. I wonder what it thought your bag was. How do you get so close?
