A Butterfly's Perception

My observation tells me that there are two types of nonsense: fatal and non-fatal nonsense. A butterfly observes that the fatal nonsense always comes from the sky.

No matter where I was, the butterfly remained cautious about the direction above it. I was glad to be honored as a nobody.

A nobody is very much better than a disaster which comes from the sky, that is the literal meaning of the Chinese proverb, " 祸从天降".

But this is just the perception of a simple-minded butterfly, and the proverb is taken too seriously.

I had to force it to look in every direction, at least, photographically.

Nibbling

I spotted a half hidden caterpillar while I was leaving Cerok Tokun.

I had a dream then and I felt a caterpillar was crawling inside me.

I have been molded to adapt and suit the environment. I am proud to be flexible and competitive, and to keep challenging limit one after another.

But I had a feeling that a caterpillar was crawling inside my body, and without any nibbling sound. It is going to chew my heart, my lung, my brain, and everything away.

Just like what had happened to the piece of leaf.

I could not get rid of the feeling after I had awakened. Who on earth that silent and ugly caterpillar was?

Me And An Ant

If this scout ant thought it could discover everything about me,

if this next one thought a closer look would help better,

and if this one tried from an upper end, my hairs thus represented the whole complicated me.

I shall be totally wrong thinking that I know a lot about the green and cement jungle. I should be very wrong.

And not much better than an ant, although I am not Ann.

All Flesh is Grass

"All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls."

************************************************************************************

This butterfly was supposed to be a very busy, happy and desirable one the next morning: To inhale the ardent aroma, to get in love and to murmur sweet nothings in the ears of the nubile flowers.

And to sow more colors of the rainbow in the wild.

It had a date the next morning.

************************************************************************************
"The steed bit his master;
How came this to pass?
He heard the good pastor
Cry, “All flesh is grass”."

New Toy

I was always excited to own a new toy when I was a kid, and I just become more clearly myself as I grow older. This explained my feeling when I managed to take a few pictures of a wild boar this morning.

The place was actually not so dark. Though cautious, I was not very much in fear while flashing repeatedly at this animal since I was not alone.

In addition, it looked numb. I had a gut feeling that it must be that reckless animal that survived the collision with my car last August.

It thought it had found a new toy at that time.

Say Nonsense

"I like nonsense -- it wakes up the brain cells.”

I did not think the monkey thought alike. It was sure frightened by a nonsense who emerged from nowhere, and at the same time had strange equipment aiming at him. Though we were very far apart, it was still so cautious and decided to move away immediately.

I did not think this treehopper thought alike too. It seemed to me it was paralyzed by the continuous flashing. Its eye balls kept turning round and round. It should think what the hell this nonsense had done on him after recovering from the mind disruption.

How can I tell them that “it's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope... and that enables you to laugh at all of life's realities"?

Story About Bulbul Continued

The bulbul did a few landing tests, as I continued to stay, to ensure nothing stupid would happen if I was an evil.

How lucky I was for not being an evil. I found the bird perched on a bird’s-nest fern, disappeared within seconds, only reappeared and flew away fifteen minutes later.

I was still not an evil, though going for a peek with a ladder. There was a nest hidden within the leaves, and one of the two eggs had already been successfully hatched. What a new life in the New Year.

I had then spent three hours with my feathered friends; it really needs time to discover what really matters.

A Bulbul's New Year Show

It was such a surprise to find a Yellow-Vented Bulbul celebrated this new year with me. This was definitely not a beautiful misunderstanding as I had been observing it long enough.

It joyfully staged a SiChuan Opera face changing routine at an adenium plant. Yes, it raised and lowered its crown crest within seconds while showing a good harvest in its beak.

At the end of the stage show, it flew for the red packet, one of the Chinese New Year traditions, as a recognition as well as to ward off evil spirits.

It was such a good day and a terrific start of the Year of the Rabbit. It certainly brings many lucks, health, prosperity and happiness to everyone of us.

新年快乐, 万事如意.

It's Year of the Rabbit

I did some weeding in my garden with my youngest son a few days ago.

Me: What do you want to be when you grow up?

Son: Be a nonsense?

Me: Great! You can be a great nonsense only if you start talking great nonsense from now on.

Son: We should not remove these weeds. They have their room in the Nature.

Me: We are helping them to reborn earlier, maybe, as a man.

Son: Maybe as a blogger.

Son: So many spiders stay in our garden for free.

Me: They share the same address with us.

Son: Let's check the letterbox. There may be new year cards for them.

Me: A butterfly just flew pass us.

Son: In a jerking manner.

Me: Why?

Son: It laughed because it overheard all this nonsense.

Me: It must be one of the three Stooges.

Son: Who are they?

Me: Someone like Mr. Bean. We have to be smart, but they earned a living by doing nonsense everyday.

Son: Is it the reason I have been talking so much nonsense and never get scolded for the first time?

(I wish everyone of you a Happy Chinese New Year).
