Walk With Ants

I am lucky to have found another paradise at Cerok Tokun.

And I find ants that start working very early in the morning, much earlier than me, without any secretary and computer.

They go back and forth, up and down.

They never bother about the spotlight that shines on them. They are focusing on only one mission: serious at work and just do it. There is no tidbit, cigarette and make-up during work.

They go wherever is required, easy or difficult, bright or dark, and I have never heard about any complaint for two consecutive weeks.

I have been squatting at the same place trying to study them whenever I have my hiking at Cerok Tokun. I once imagined I was a director sitting on a director's chair, and they were my superstars.

They never talk about air conditioner and automation. They do it the same way for centuries and they are happy. Internet, television, car and so on have never come into their mind.

They do it in their own way.

And in a humorous way, just because I think I am a director. I have managed a waltz dance by one of them before I call it a day.

  4. Too much! Well, it is intriguing- to think of them carrying on and maybe what we do (we have so much distraction)..when I was a child, I can remember endless hours (so it seemed) with just my imagination- we can still slip into that space! I think your macros are wonderful in this series and you make a fine director!

  7. Inspiring...
Almost like a parallel universe which goes unnoticed among many distractions of the digital world.

It is very fun to observe these tiny creatures and capture them in pictures, when the moment is right.

I hope I am. I may need to buy a director's chair first.

Luckily they do not ever think of any vacation. How do they travel to Washington if they would like to?

    Kilauea Poetry:
They carry on their task, I carry on with my imagination, though I am not a child.

  12. Your ants want to go treking too? They can go to Miri in my Uncle's ayr jambu tree.

The silly things were biting me when I was taking photos. I wasn't even disturbing them.

My camera cannot take close up like you, sorry.

You got a kaki to go treking or do you trek alone? My husband made an appointment to go today. Then he fell asleep sunbathing in the deck saying it is too cold. So I am looking for a Kaki.

  13. You are a very brave man, luckily you don't live in the era of communist insurgency. My mum used to tell my brother off when he went camping. Some times he had to "lie" to go. This was what my mum said," The communists think you are a soldier, the soldiers think you are a communist. You get shot front and back." Nothing to LOL about, I lived through those times in Sarawak. 24 hour curfew. You go hiking alone Ah Yo!!!!!

    Were you a boy scout?

Do you remember a few years back, 3 Singapore boys got lost in the Pahang jungle and got saved by the Orang Asli? I know their aunty. The big boy said, he was never frighten because he was a boy scout.

  14. We can always count on you to find the small actors with the big parts. Here, red ants can be counted on to bite. Will yours, if you give them a direction they don't like?

  21. Good capture. Love how the ants seem to glow despite the darkness of the surrounding. Ants really are industrious creatures. Every time we see them, they are diligently working.
