This is the place I pass by everyday on my way to work, but it manages only to catch my fleeting glimpse at the speed of 90km/hr. I have seen many pond herons wandering around over last few weeks, and am sure a glimpse must not be enough.
It is half past eight in the morning. I am feeling the burning heat, in such a way very different from Cerok Tokun, at which I am fully sheltered by the dense forest.
And I am seeing a farmer at work.
This very crude scarecrow seems to be not frightening the white-throated kingfisher away. You may want to know where is the bird, the answer is right in the next picture.
But there must be more birds hiding themselves in the paddy field.
Yes, here come the lonely pond heron looking for its early meal, but flocks of herons have gone missing. I am too late for the gorgeous season.
Anyhow, one or two are still entertaining. Catching them flying is just like catching the seconds, they are simply too fast for a amateur like me. A pretty good excuse, isn't it?
I am coming for the flock of herons, but receive many others in return. Some are dynamic to attract my attention, the others just stay besides the pathway quietly. I am so lucky to have spotted them.
But the morning moon is certainly not one of those, because though it is a single moon, everyone is always able to see at everywhere and in everyday.
i miss the paddy field Rainfield, I can only remember joyful memories from childhood with them. Also, looking at them always give me a sense of peacefulness.
ReplyDeletelove your lonely and fying heron photo over the paddy field, i too make it an excuse the bird is too fast for me :) or my lens is not good enough :)
but nevertheless, it is the joy of seeing them and bringing the joy home through our picture.
I like the moon shot here rain and yeah the scarecrow isn't effective. :) The greeneries are just awesome. I see some similar scenes in my place too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful views, and photos, Rainfield. My favorite would be the picture of the heron's reflection in the water, not that you ask or anything :-)
ReplyDeleteHerons are some of my FAVORITE birds to catch on camera....
ReplyDeletethese are terrific shots!
Congratulations!!!!
Love that in flight shot.
ReplyDelete8.30am is already late for birding. ;)
The heron's flight shot is very nice! Nice paddy field too..lot of activities :)
ReplyDeleteOh I love this king of scenery.
ReplyDeleteYou got some great pictures again this time, especially of the heron. The moon looked just like that here tonight except it was upside down.
ReplyDeletebetchai: A picture can bring the memory back to a long time ago. A picture can bring us joy.
ReplyDeleteIt records the traces of our journey.
Pacey: This is the same moon that we have seen yesterday. Though it is one and the only one, but we have it everyday at anywhere.
Icy BC: Sometime I am in doubt, where is my favourite? I would rather say I like them all.
The Retired One/Kirigalpoththa/Willie: Thank you very much.
Tabib: I have realised later. 8:30am is really late. The birds have looked for shelter to avoid the hot sun.
Ratty: How the moon turned upside down when it reached to the other side of the Earth? It might have slipped and toppled...
These images remind me of my childhood. Nostalgic country feeling
ReplyDeleteWe get great blue herons around here -majestic birds! Love your photos and getting to see that part of the world from your perspective...
ReplyDeletethis is going to sound ridiculous but i have never actually srt foot on a padi field. it would b a great experience to work with the padi farmers just for a day
ReplyDeleteYou are not much of an amateur since you got that great shot of the heron in flight. I also like your picture of the moon in the blue sky.
ReplyDeleteAmazing in flight capture. I'm kinda handicapped when it comes to photographing birds in flight.
ReplyDeleteFascinating to see a REAL scarecrow. Also, I think you got some great bird shots, in flight and at the pond with reflection.
ReplyDeleteroentarre: I have some shots of the butterfly and dragonfly, they are great and beautiful. All these certainly remind us of our childhood. We caught them by hand at those time, but we are catching them using the camera now.
ReplyDeleteFootsteps: Our world looks the same for some of the time, but it looks very different if we see in detail.
Bengbeng: Look is easy, but work with them is not so enjoyable.
LOL.
George: The sky is so blue, that is why we see the moon.
Life Ramblings: I am still learning and experimenting the way, but joy is already very much derived.
Diane: This is a local REAL scarecrow, get it by chance.
ah...the temptation to get some bird photo are inching ...and it will consume you as you try harder and harder to get better. not that I am complaining, but I was a victim, great photos, and keep it going.
ReplyDeleteoh! rain...these pics reminds me of home... i love the picture of the scarecrow, it is so refreshing and the moon is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI am only a 1year photographer of wildlife your shots will get better with time do not be impatient. our birds are always here for us to see.
ReplyDeletemy first photos where far worse than yours. keep going let us see your view of your country.
Wonderful photos and scenery. Thanks for showing us your birds. I really love seeing birds from all over.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed all of your photos here. Very interesting scarecrow!
ReplyDeleteyen: The temptation to get new equipment has to be stopped. That's no end. LOL.
ReplyDeleteBut the love for photography continues.
Salitype: This is my purpose, reminding you of home. Time flies back..
Tony nile life: I have my DSLR for almost one year, and seriously go for photography in less one year. Still learning...Anyway, the birds are always there waiting for me, you are right.
eileeninmd: Hunting and putting birds into beautiful pictures are quite difficult, but you have done a good job.
Cheryl: The scarecrow is crude, but with the kingfisher as a watchdog, it may help. LOL.
Rainfield, the heron is beautiful and i really love the moon shot. Very well displayed. I guess the heron is used to seeing the scarecrow so it does not have an effect on him.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, a paddy field. It reminds me of a certain wonderful summer when my family had gone on a vacation, we played in the rice paddies and even caught toddlers! Good capture on the bird in flight, lovely!
ReplyDeletefeel the same as Betchai. this post made me miss home.
ReplyDeletethe greens have the 'eye mo' effect to my eyes. ;)
never in my life have i walked on a paddy rice field but i had an experience on floody streets! haha!
ReplyDeleteIn Sri Lanka scarecrows do more than scaring crows. Over here they are used to ward off evil eye, evil words and evil thoughts, all of which we believe, can bring about misfortune.
ReplyDeleteTherefore, one can see scarecrows in paddiyfields as well as buildings under construction.
I love seeing the different kinds of birds you have there. Always something new to learn.
